Lisbon

Its history is long, made of advances and setbacks between achievements and reconquests. The best is to go back to the founding of the city. It is thought to have been on this point that has emerged the first settlement originating Lisbon.

Walking down the hill, we walk through Lisbon’s downtown, rebuilt in 1755 by Marquês de Pombal, after the big earthquake. Stroll through Baixa, and discover its corners, the Pombaline style facades and enjoy some of the regional delicacies

And if the sun calls out, at a 30-minute distance, the beaches on the Estoril coast also wait for you.

Castelo de São Jorge

Built-in the mid-11th century, this fortification still retains eleven towers displaying various architectural features characteristic of military fortifications from the Moorish period. The steps leading up the sides of the curtain walls provide access to the ramparts and towers enabling visitors to explore the entire perimeter. Given its outstanding location, a highlight of the Castelo de São Jorge is its many viewpoints affording majestic and unparalleled views of Lisbon.

A National Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Mosteiro dos Jerónimos

The Jerónimos Monastery is a National Monument and was classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. King Manuel, I built a large monastery near the location where the Infante D. Henrique ordered a church to be built in the mid-15th century by the invocation of St. Mary of Belém. To immortalize the memory of the Infante, for his intense devotion to Our Lady and faith in St. Jerome, in 1496 King Manuel I decided to found the Monastery of St. Mary of Belém, near the city of Lisbon, next to the Tagus River. Donated to the monks of the Order of St. Jerome, today it is commonly known as the Jerónimos Monastery. A pantheon of the Avis-Beja Dynasty, in the 19th century the church became the sepulcher for heroes and poets: Vasco da Gama and Luís de Camões. A notable work of architecture, it became part of Portuguese identity and culture.

Music festivals in Lisbon

Rock In Rio
Rock In Rio is one of the biggest music festivals on the planet and this year the city of rock is back in Lisbon. During the month of June go to Parque da Bela Vista and have fun!

Jardim Sonoro
In September, Parque Eduardo VII will host the Jardim Sonoro festival. A festival that will bring together the best of Techno, Disco, House Jazz, Soul or even Hip-Hop music in an idyllic setting right in the city centre!

At the beginning of September, Parque da Bela Vista will once again host another festival of music, art and sustainability.

Technology and innovation events

Europe’s largest entrepreneurship, technology and innovation conference is back in Lisbon.

The Web Summit will take place in November, more specifically at FIL and Altice Arena. Real Residência is close to the red and blue metro lines, with a direct stop at the conference.
